What Is NTS?#

NTS is the National Testing Service. It is a testing body, not a commission. It does not advertise government posts itself. Departments, universities and autonomous bodies hire NTS to run their recruitment and admission tests.

NTS runs three kinds of tests. NAT is for university admissions and is valid for 1 year. GAT General is for MS and MPhil admissions and GAT Subject is for PhD admissions; both are valid for 2 years. Recruitment tests are for jobs, and each one belongs to a project announced by the hiring department.

Commissions work differently. FPSC, PPSC, SPSC, KPPSC and BPSC recruit for government posts directly. Our how-to-apply guide explains which body covers which jobs. Our testing services page lists the testing bodies that run recruitment tests.

How to Register on NTS#

You register one time only on the NTS online Registration Portal at nts.org.pk. If you are a new user, sign up and register. Once you are registered, log in with the same account for every project. You do not register again for each test.

After you log in, fill in your personal information, academic information and employment information (if any). In the academic record, write your major subjects and your percentage of secured marks in two digits only. Write the board or university in abbreviation only, for example FBISE Islamabad or BISE Rawalpindi. Incomplete or improperly filled details will not be processed.

Upload a recent photograph with full face exposure in the portal. The photo is part of your registration. Without it, your application is not complete.

What You Need Before You Start#

Keep these ready before you open the portal. A missing photo or a wrong percentage format stops the form.

  • Your CNIC. It identifies you across all NTS applications.
  • A recent photograph. Full face exposure. Upload it in the portal during registration.
  • Your academic record. Major subjects and percentage of secured marks in two digits only. Board or university name in abbreviation.
  • Your own mobile number. Use a number that has not been ported. NTS sends the roll number slip alert by SMS, and SMS on ported numbers is restricted.
  • An email address. For your account and for updates.
  • Your test city choices. A primary test city and a secondary test city.

You do not send hard copies of your documents to NTS at the application stage. The form, the photo and the fee are enough.

How to Apply for NTS Jobs Online: The 6 Steps#

Register once, then apply for each project from your account. Apply separately for each post.

  1. Register on the NTS portal. Open nts.org.pk and sign up on the online Registration Portal. This is a one-time registration.
  2. Complete your profile. Log in and fill in your personal, academic and employment information. Upload your recent photograph with full face exposure.
  3. Pick your project. From the list of projects announced in the portal, select the test you want. For jobs, pick the recruitment project named in the advertisement.
  4. Choose your test cities. Select a primary test city and a secondary test city.
  5. Download the bank deposit slip. The slip is available on the portal only. It shows your fee and the payment channels.
  6. Pay the fee and keep the slip. Deposit the fee through 1Link 1Bill (see below). Keep the deposit slip safe.

NTS Fee: How Much and How to Pay#

Test Fee
NAT Rs 1,510 (Rs 2,010 with late fee)
GAT General Rs 1,810
GAT Subject Rs 2,210 (Rs 3,010 with late fee)
Recruitment test Varies by project (printed on the deposit slip)

Recruitment project fees vary. The deposit slip shows the exact fee for your project, including any late fee. Pay the amount on your slip.

Our PSID guide explains the PSID system used by the commissions. NTS does not use a PSID. It uses a bank deposit slip instead.

How to Deposit the NTS Fee#

Deposit the fee through 1Link 1Bill. These channels work:

  • 1Link participating banks. Any branch or ATM of a 1Link member bank.
  • Internet banking. Your bank’s online banking portal.
  • Mobile banking. Your bank’s app, or EasyPaisa and JazzCash.
  • TCS Express Counters. Over the counter.

Bank service charges are shown on the deposit slip. Pay before the last date on the slip. The late fee applies after the last date, where the test allows late registration.

Some older guides say you must send the original deposit slip to NTS headquarters in Islamabad. The current NTS NAT and GAT pages describe the process as fully online with 1Link payment, with no postal step. For recruitment projects, check your project’s advertisement. If it asks for the slip, send it. If it does not, the online process is complete.

How to Log In to the NTS Candidate Portal#

Log in at nts.org.pk with the account you created when you registered. The registration page is at portal.nts.org.pk/register. Your account stays active for every project. You log in to apply for a new test, to download your deposit slip and to check your roll number slip and result card.

Do not log in at ntslogin.pk. That site is not NTS. It ranks high in search results for NTS login, but it is a third-party site. The official portal is nts.org.pk only. Never pay a third-party site for an NTS form or result. NTS results are free on nts.org.pk.

How to Download Your NTS Roll Number Slip#

NTS uploads the roll number slip on nts.org.pk at least 7 days before the test. An intimation SMS is sent to the mobile number you provided. Log in to the portal and download your slip.

On test day, report at the time written on your slip. No candidate is admitted after the specified time. You must produce your roll number slip at the entry point. Without it, you will not be entertained for the test.

Do not bring calculators, mobile phones or wrist watches with calculator into the test centre. Question booklets come in five different shuffles, sealed, and are opened by the candidates at the start of the test. Use only a blue or black ball pen to shade the circles. Shading two answers against a single question is marked zero.

After the Test#

Your result card is on nts.org.pk. NTS announces results by test, and you download your individual result card. Our NTS result guide explains how to check your result by roll number or CNIC.

NAT is held monthly. The next NAT is NAT-XII on 13 December 2026. Registration opens 16 November 2026 and the last date is 7 December 2026. The slip comes out 15 December and the result on 21 December 2026. NAT-XI was held 15 November 2026, and its registration closed 26 October 2026.

Your NAT result is valid for 1 year. Your GAT result is valid for 2 years. For recruitment tests, the hiring department takes the next step after the result, not NTS.

Mistakes That Get NTS Applications Rejected#

  • Incomplete or wrong details. NTS does not process incomplete or improperly filled registration details. Check every field before you submit.
  • Wrong percentage format. Write your percentage in two digits only, and the board or university in abbreviation only.
  • No photo, or a photo without full face exposure. The photo is part of your registration.
  • A ported mobile number. NTS sends the slip alert by SMS, and SMS on ported numbers is restricted. Use a non-ported number.
  • Paying on a third-party site. ntslogin.pk is not NTS. Pay only through the deposit slip from the official portal, via 1Link 1Bill.
  • Missing the last date. The late fee applies only where the test allows late registration. After the last date, the portal closes for that test.
  • Bringing a phone to the test centre. Mobile phones and calculators are not allowed. Do not bring them.
