An application for a teaching job is a one-page formal letter to the principal of a private school, college or academy, with your CV attached. Government teaching posts work differently. There is no letter. You apply through an online form only.
This guide covers both routes. It gives the letter format, four samples in English and Urdu, the documents to attach, and how to apply for government teaching posts through PPSC and the CTI portal.
Application for a Teaching Job at a Glance#
| Route | How you apply | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Private school, college or academy | Written letter to the principal, with your CV | Any private teaching post |
| PPSC lecturer and educator posts | Online form at ppsc.gop.pk | Punjab government teaching posts |
| CTI (College Teaching Intern) | Online form at cti-hep.punjab.gov.pk | Temporary teaching in government colleges |
What Is an Application for a Teaching Job?#
It is a formal letter that asks for a teaching post. It states the post you want, your qualification, and your experience in three short paragraphs.
The letter is not your CV. The CV lists everything. The letter picks the three facts that fit this post: your degree, your teaching experience, and the classes you can teach.
A letter is used for private schools, colleges and academies. Government schools and colleges do not accept letters. They recruit through PPSC or the CTI portal, and a letter sent to the department does not count as an application.
The Format: Parts of the Letter#
A teaching application follows the standard formal letter layout. Every part has a fixed place on the page.
| Part | What to write |
|---|---|
| Sender | Your name, address, phone number and email, at the top |
| Date | The date you send the letter |
| Receiver | The Principal, the school name and its address |
| Subject | Application for the Post of [Subject] Teacher ([Classes]) |
| Salutation | Respected Sir, Respected Madam, or Dear Principal [Name] |
| Body | Three short paragraphs (below) |
| Closing | Yours faithfully, your signature and your name |
| Enclosures | A list of the documents attached |
Name the exact post in the subject line. Write “Application for the Post of English Teacher (Grades 6–8)”, not “Application for a Job”. A principal reads dozens of letters. The subject line is how yours is sorted.

The Three Paragraphs of the Body#
Paragraph 1: the post and your qualification. Name the post, say where you saw the advertisement, and give your degree and teaching qualification. One example: “I am applying for the post of English Teacher (Grades 6–8), advertised in Jang on 2 November 2026. I hold a BS in English and a B.Ed.”
Paragraph 2: your experience. Name the schools you taught at, the subjects and classes, and one concrete result. One example: “I taught English to Grades 6–8 at [School Name] for three years, and my class scored 92% in the board examination.”
Paragraph 3: why this school, and what happens next. Say why you want this school, and that you are available for a demo lesson or an interview. Name the documents attached.
Keep the letter to one page. Send it as a PDF unless the advertisement asks for Word. Keep a PDF copy on your phone, because many private schools still take applications by email or WhatsApp.

If you are a woman, change “دے رہا ہوں” to “دے رہی ہوں” and “حاضر ہو سکتا ہوں” to “حاضر ہو سکتی ہوں”. The rest of the letter stays the same.
Documents to Attach With the Application#
Attach only what the advertisement asks for. A long pile of papers does not help. The usual list is:
- Your CV
- Degree and transcripts, up to your highest qualification
- B.Ed or M.Ed, where you hold one
- Experience certificate, one per employer, where the post asks for experience
- Domicile certificate in your own name, where the school asks for it
- CNIC copy
- Recent passport-size photographs
Our documents checklist lists every document a government job application needs, and most of the same papers are asked for by private schools.

How to Send the Application#
By email. Send the letter and CV as PDFs, with the post in the email subject line. Write the same subject as the letter: “Application for the Post of [Subject] Teacher”. Attach the documents as separate files, not as photos of papers.
By WhatsApp. Many private schools now take applications on WhatsApp. Send the PDF letter and CV, with a one-line message naming the post. Do not send photographs of handwritten pages.
By hand. Take a printed copy to the school office and ask for a receiving stamp or signature. Keep the stamped copy. It is your proof that the application was submitted.
By post. Send by registered post or courier, well before the closing date. Keep the postal receipt and a photocopy of the full application.
Government Teaching Jobs: Apply Online Instead#
There is no application letter for a government teaching post. A letter sent to the department or the college does not count as an application. Government teaching posts are applied for online only.
PPSC lecturer and educator posts. Lecturer and other teaching posts in Punjab government colleges and schools are advertised in numbered PPSC advertisements on ppsc.gop.pk. You apply online only, with your CNIC. The fee is paid through a PSID: Rs 600 for a one-paper test post and Rs 1,000 for a competitive examination. Our how to apply guide covers the online process, and our PSID guide covers the payment.
CTI (College Teaching Interns). CTIs are temporary teachers in government colleges, hired by the Higher Education Department Punjab through cti-hep.punjab.gov.pk. The 2026–27 round closed on 23 October 2026. Check the portal for the next HED advertisement. CTI applications are online only, and interviews are held at the college.
The 30,000 educator posts. A proposal for 30,000+ educator posts has been reported, but no PPSC advertisement for it has been published. Do not treat it as an open recruitment. Check ppsc.gop.pk for the current advertisements.
Age relaxation for government teaching posts follows the same rules as other Punjab posts. Our age relaxation guide covers them. Government jobs in general are advertised the same way: online, through the commission, before a closing date.
Common Mistakes to Avoid#
- Sending a letter for a government post. PPSC and CTI take online applications only. A letter does not count.
- Writing “Application for a Job” as the subject. Name the exact post and subject, or the letter is not sorted.
- A letter longer than one page. Three paragraphs are enough. A principal will not read a second page.
- Claiming experience without proof. If you state experience, attach the experience certificate. Our experience certificate guide shows the format commissions accept.
- Sending a photo of a handwritten letter. Type the letter and send a PDF. A photo of paper looks careless.
- Forgetting the demo lesson. Most private schools ask for one. Prepare a 20-minute lesson on your subject before the interview.
- Applying after the closing date. Private schools and PPSC both close on the date in the advertisement. Late applications are not accepted.
- Paying an agent for a government teaching post. PPSC and CTI never ask you to pay a person. The fee goes through a PSID on the official site only.
