Job Overview

Eligibility and Qualifications

Candidates applying for the Vice Chancellor position must meet one of the following comprehensive eligibility criteria:

• Category 1:
  • Education: A recognized Post Graduate Fellowship or PhD (Medical Sciences as per HEC standards) or an equivalent degree from an HEC/PMDC recognized university.
  • Experience: At least 20 years of experience as a full professor in an HEC/PMDC recognized university. OR 10 years of administrative, financial, and academic experience as a Vice Chancellor, Rector, President, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dean, Chairman, Registrar, or Principal in a university/college. Alternatively, experience in BPS-17 or a higher grade in a public sector or renowned national/international organization is acceptable.
• Category 2:
  • Education: A Master’s degree from an HEC recognized university.
  • Experience: Must be a BPS-21 or higher cadre officer (PAS/EX-PCS/PSS/PMS) with relevant civil service experience.
  • Condition: If selected for the Vice Chancellor position, the candidate must resign from their current cadre or opt for retirement.
• Category 3:
  • Education: A Master’s degree, preferably a PhD, in a relevant field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience in an academic environment or civil society research/administrative leadership role, including at least 10 publications in HEC recognized journals.

The Vice Chancellor will be instrumental in guiding the university’s strategic direction and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include:

• Promoting and enhancing the quality of education.
• Fostering and overseeing research and development projects.
• Establishing and strengthening national and international linkages with industrial and leading organizations.
• Developing and implementing sustainable business models for the university.
• Collecting and analyzing data for informed policy-making across various industrial sectors.
