The District Education Officer (Special Education) Gujrat has announced job opportunities for School Teaching Interns (STIs) for the year 2026. These temporary positions are available in various Special Education Institutions across Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin districts, under the STIs policy of the Government of Punjab, Special Education Department.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Candidates must meet the prescribed academic qualifications and age limits for each designation:

Junior Special Education Teacher (HI Field) (BS-16)

• Academic Qualification: M.A or BS (second division or grade-C) in Special Education with specialization in the field of deaf or equivalent qualification from a university recognized by Higher Education Commission.
• Age Limit: 21-28 Years. Age relaxation: Male: upto 05-years, Female: upto 08-years, Disable Persons: upto 15-years (subject to disability certificate).

Senior Special Education Teacher (HI Field) (BS-17)

• Academic Qualification: M.A or M.Ed. or BS (first division or grade-B) in Special Education with specialization in the field of deaf or equivalent qualification from a university recognized by Higher Education Commission.
• Age Limit: 21-28 Years. Age relaxation: Male: upto 05-years, Female: upto 08-years, Disable Persons: upto 15-years (subject to disability certificate).

Junior Special Education Teacher (VI Field) (BS-16 & BS-18)

• Academic Qualification: M.A or BS (second division or grade-C) in Special Education with specialization in the field of visually impairment (Blind) or equivalent qualification from a university recognized by Higher Education Commission; AND Certificate of proficiency in Braille Issued by the Directorate General of Special Education, Punjab.
• Age Limit: 21-28 Years. Age relaxation: Male: upto 05-years, Female: upto 08-years, Disable Persons: upto 15-years (subject to disability certificate).

Senior Special Education Teacher (VI Field) (BS-17)

• Academic Qualification: M.A or BS (first division or grade-B) in Special Education with specialization in the field of visually impairment or equivalent qualification from a university recognized by Higher Education Commission; AND Certificate of proficiency in Braille Issued by the Directorate General of Special Education, Punjab.

• Age Limit: 21-28 Years. Age relaxation: Male: upto 05-years, Female: upto 08-years, Disable Persons: upto 15-years (subject to disability certificate).

Senior Special Education Teacher (P.D Field) (BS-17)

• Academic Qualification: M.A or BS (first division or grade-B) in Special Education with specialization in the field of physically disabled or handicapped or equivalent qualification from a university recognized by Higher Education Commission.
• Age Limit: 21-28 Years. Age relaxation: Male: upto 05-years, Female: upto 08-years, Disable Persons: upto 15-years (subject to disability certificate).

Junior Special Education Teacher (MC Field) (BS-16)

• Academic Qualification: M.A or BS (second division or grade-C) in Special Education with specialization in the field of mentally challenged or equivalent qualification from a university recognized by Higher Education Commission.
• Age Limit: 21-28 Years. Age relaxation: Male: upto 05-years, Female: upto 08-years, Disable Persons: upto 15-years (subject to disability certificate).

Senior Special Education Teacher (MC Field) (BS-17)

• Academic Qualification: M.A or BS (first division or grade-B) in Special Education with specialization in the field of mentally challenged or equivalent qualification from a university recognized by Higher Education Commission.
• Age Limit: 21-28 Years. Age relaxation: Male: upto 05-years, Female: upto 08-years, Disable Persons: upto 15-years (subject to disability certificate).

Terms & Conditions

• Engagement shall be purely temporary, school-specific, and non-transferable.
• Preference may be given to candidates having teaching experience.
• Duration: Financial Year 2026-27 (excluding summer vacations) or till the arrival of regular incumbents, whichever is earlier.
• Monthly Honorarium: BS-16: Rs. 40,000/-, BS-17: Rs. 45,000/-.
• No right of regular appointment shall be conferred.
• Performance and attendance will be strictly monitored by concerned authorities.
• Engagement may be terminated on one month’s notice or payment in lieu thereof.
• Incomplete or late applications shall not be entertained.
• Candidates must bring original documents at the time of interview.
• The department reserves the right to increase/decrease the number of posts or cancel the recruitment process at any stage.
• The engagement of STIs will be made in accordance with the above-mentioned policy and the hired STIs will also be governed in accordance with the said policy.
