The FBR is seeking to appoint Legal Advisors to support the Directorate of Law & Prosecution Customs Karachi. These roles are critical for managing legal submissions, conducting research, and representing the department in various legal forums.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Candidates interested in these Legal Advisor jobs must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: An LLB degree from a recognized university.
- Professional Experience: At least 5 years of post-qualification experience practicing before the High Courts. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in customs law.
- Licensing: Must be an enrolled Advocate eligible to appear before the High Courts.
Scope of Work and Responsibilities
The selected Legal Advisors will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
- Assisting the Directorate of Law & Prosecution Customs Karachi and Customs Collectorates in preparing legal submissions and representation in appellate forums.
- Conducting legal research on intricate Customs matters.
- Reviewing and providing advice on notices, replies, and orders.
- Supporting Customs officials in litigation and legal risk management.
- Preparing periodic reports on legal proceedings and their outcomes.
- Liaising with field formations on legal matters and developing summaries of important cases.
- Assisting in the systematic review and classification of pending litigation based on value, complexity, and legal merit to facilitate strategic prioritization and early disposal.
- Drafting dispute settlement proposals and assisting in negotiations for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) cases.
- Pleading cases before High Courts, Customs Appellate Tribunal (CAT), and Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO), including representation to the President of Pakistan in FTO Cases only when specifically assigned by the concerned Directorates of Law & Prosecution Customs.
- Performing any other legal tasks assigned by the concerned Directorates Law & Prosecution Customs Karachi.
Pay & Remuneration
Legal Advisors will be hired on a full-time, contractual basis. The monthly remuneration is set to be in the range of PKR 300,000/-, with the final amount determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The FBR, in consultation with the Selection Committee, will finalize the remuneration.
Duration of Contract
The initial engagement for the Legal Advisors will be for a period of one year. This contract is extendable by the Directorate of Law & Prosecution Customs Karachi, contingent upon performance and departmental requirements.
Monitoring & Reporting
Legal Advisors will report directly to the Directorate of Law & Prosecution Customs Karachi. They are required to submit monthly progress reports detailing activities undertaken, cases supported, and outcomes achieved. These reports must adhere to a standard format prescribed by the legal wing.
Code of Conduct
All Legal Advisors are expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding official information, disclose any potential conflicts of interest, and comply with professional ethics and FBR’s internal security protocols.

- No Traveling Allowance (TA) or Daily Allowance (DA) will be admissible for attending the interview. Interview call letters will be issued by the selection committee.
