About Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and Forecasting Expert
Pakistan Meteorological Department is hiring for the post of Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and Forecasting Expert in Islamabad.
This expert will be responsible for advancing numerical weather prediction and forecasting capabilities within the project. The role involves hands-on work and strategic input in meteorological operations.
- Conduct operational Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and weather forecasting activities.
- Implement and manage ensemble forecasting and verification processes.
- Utilize High-Performance Computing (HPC) supported workflows for meteorological applications.
Requirements for Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and Forecasting Expert
Candidates for the Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and Forecasting Expert role must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Master's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, NWP, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Environmental Sciences or a related discipline.
- Experience: At least 8 years of experience in operational NWP and weather forecasting, including expertise in ensemble forecasting, verification, and HPC-supported workflows. Experience in two comparable assignments is required.
